We were planning another party at the beginning of January and we had some time to kill. We stopped into a local antique shop and stumbled upon some amazing items. We found a set or mirrored name plates with tiny flowers and knew we had to have them. We then found a box of vintage handkerchiefs and an idea was born. A vintage inspired Easter tea party was in our future and we couldn’t wait to start planning. Being the time of year in California we wanted to shoot in the almond blossoms. We found Golden Ranch just outside of Tracy and it was the perfect location.
In House of Fete style we had to add color, so along with florals we worked in our rainbow with butterflies. It gave the theme all the colorful spring vibes and we had to have them in every medium possible. We incorporated butterflies in watercolor, stained glass, acrylic and of course, sugar. Our first big project was the table, we wanted to transform our palette table to reflect a pastel rainbow. We took inspiration from @athomewithashley and her signature color palette and Marissa painted each row of the table a different color. It turned out so cool, we will probably never change it.
About half way through planning, we started watching Bridgerton. The bright dresses, proper tea service and gossip- we had to work this into our set. So let’s Spill The Tea. We added little elements throughout the shoot like bumble bees, society papers within the invitation and “Your Grace” even had a seat at the table.
We had a LOT of fun with the table settings, it is one of our favorite things to dream up. This time we has an original idea to have acrylic circles made to fit our paper plates. This way we could press confetti, dried florals and watercolor butterflies on each plate and still top it with all the sweets. It gave each setting its own unique color and whimsy.
The center of the table was a runner of rainbow colored glass, bowls and cake stands filled to the brim with tea sandwiches, floral sugars and enough candy to rival the Easter Bunny. But no tea party is complete without the tea, each kid had their own tea pot with their silhouette in the center. Kelsey used mod podge and paper napkins to decorate each teapot with a floral motif and their custom silhouette by Dapper and Darling Shop. Each child had a color that was reflected on their tea pot, in their outfit and even on their Easter baskets. The finishing touch to the table and the hand painted cookies of the sweetest Easter characters. The cookies adorned each place setting along side a butterfly macaron- just perfection.
Our “tea cart” found a home next to a real vintage carriage that was already on the property. We couldn’t pass up using this piece of history that looked like the Duke had just stepped out of. The table and carriage were embellished with a rainbow of babies breath to add a whimsical pop of color finished with hand made, stained glass butterflies, the set was a dream come true.
The kids collected eggs, snacked on chocolate bunnies and ran as far as they could through the trees. We spilled the tea and did Lady Whistledown proud.
We could not have pulled off this dreamy set up without our AMAZING vendors. From the hand painted cookies by The Sugar Bug, the custom silhouettes by Dapper and Darling and the amazing spread by Danville Cheese were some of our favorite highlights. The stained glass butterflies by my cousin of Jasper Glass and the watercolor butterflies and invitation by Cami Monet were show stoppers. Every single person is so talented! And a special thanks to Tara of Soiree Macarons + Apris Floral for not only creating Magic, but for joining us and executing! Golden Ranch was the most amazing property, thank you for hosting us, and to Marissa of Dirt Pearls and Curls for capturing our ideas and producing such beautiful images. We can not thank everyone enough!
