Better late than never right? We shot our Twelve Days of Christmas shoot in October, it has since been featured on Green Wedding Shoes (EEK) but we wanted to recap it here too, because honestly it was pure magic.
We held the shoot at a gazebo in Tracy, CA- it was truly about the table and balloons. We wanted to make sure it had a powerful overall impact and that the balloons could compete with the details of the table.

The Table
So let’s start here, Kelsey has always wanted to highlight parts of the song and have a table set for 12, each a different day of Christmas. Lindsi of Collective Creative Co. built a huge round table the perfect size for a kids dinner party. Each plate was the same color except 5 was gold, of course. We called on our friend Paper Lane to do something a little different with our plates and menus. Each setting had a glass plate that was hand painted with an image that represented the lyric. She hand wrote the part of the song and we finished it with an acrylic menu.
The Menu
Danville Cheese outdid herself for this party and created 12 small plates, each different and representing the song. She didn’t hold back doing things like french macarons for Three French Hens, onion rings for Five Golden Rings and a ballerina candy cone for Nine Ladies Dancing. Some plates were elevated, some were candy, it was the perfect mix and everyone indulged.
Ines of Carmela Cake who we worked with for Rainboo Halloween created the most gorgeous 2 layer window shopping cakes. She hand painted the days of Christmas around the bottom layer of the cake and used sugar to make them look like windows. We topped the cake with tiny bottle brush and a ribbon, talk about decadence.
The Collective Creative Co
We were so excited to collaborate with Lindsi on this project! When we told her we wanted to fill the gazebo with balloons she took us seriously, showing up with THOUSANDS of balloons. She started in the wee hours of the night to install and transform the gazebo. She didn’t stop there, she also built 5 golden rings to suspend over the table all adorned with balloons and of course, the table. Cannot forget our favorite part, 12 red drums for the kids to sit on.
The kids got dressed up in their finest and most gorgeous handmade hats and had a whimsical dinner party! It was nothing short of magic to kick off the holiday season.
